Naheem couldn’t believe she was there. Out of all the places in the world she could be, she was at the bank when he was robbing it. The second he saw her, he wanted to call it quits and walk out the door. There was no way he could hold her hostage with everyone else and keep it together, but he had no choice. His life was on the line in more than one way. Dr. Fayez was clear about his instructions, and Naheem refused to mess up.

There wasn’t as many people in the bank as he thought there would be, which was a good thing. Dr. Fayez was adamant about Naheem getting there before the bank opened, and he could see why. Only a few of the employees were present from what he knew. He still hadn’t had a chance to check upstairs, but it was next on his list. Seeing her caught him off guard, slightly throwing him off track. He had to get back in line before Dr. Fayez called to check in with him to see how things were going.

As he thought about leaving the hostages unattended to go scope the place out, Naheem realized he needed help. He couldn’t do everything by himself, not with the size of the bank. There was too much space to cover and too many people for one person to keep track of. Dr. Fayez had mentioned sending him some help if needed, and while Naheem didn’t want to ask, he had no other choice if they wanted to be successful with their plan.

Naheem pulled his phone out to dial Dr. Fayez’s number when a text from him came through instructing him to go open the bank door. Bewildered, Naheem turned around to see a tall, dark figure standing at the door. He jogged over to the door, opened it, and allowed the man access inside before quickly locking it back before anyone else tried to enter. When the man turned around and pulled his hood from his head, Naheem scoffed and shook his head.

“I didn’t know he was sending you,” Naheem muttered, brushing past Ryan.

Ryan held his arms out and chuckled. “Who else would he send? You know no one can get it done like us, so it was only right he put the dynamic duo together. Don’t front like you’re not pleased to see me.”

Naheem couldn’t argue with him. Ryan was the perfect person to help Naheem execute the plan, but he was positive they would bump heads along the way.

The pair had known one another for six years, meeting when they were both fourteen. Dr. Fayez introduced them, and it didn’t take long for the boys to become thick as thieves, literally. Their first robbery together was at a corner store close to The Dock. The owners were hardly present, leaving their children to run the business for them. That particular day, it was their daughter. While Ryan distracted her, swooning her with his deep monotone and words while Naheem grabbed over four-hundred dollars’ worth of food and drinks for the community.
